I stayed there for a month and a half in the summer of 2006. The place is in a good location, it's cheap, the apartment has everything you need plus we get to meet really nice and interesting people. I stayed with Jeff who signed the guestbook for a while, then with Patrick who also wrote down a comment. Great people really!! Plus Shawn is always there to help, give info and advice on Japan. He really cares about our comfort and satisfaction. Thanks a lot Shawn, I'm always recommending you to my friends in Canada!!!

This praise is way too late!
I along with two training buddies stayed at Shawn's almost a year ago for two weeks, around Daikomyosai.
We had an immensely great time! The apartment is comfy, the location is good, shops are nearby. Shawn is also a great guy! We especially enjoyed the late night meal at Warui Warui(?)-restaurant at Kashiwa :) .
Thank you Shawn and hope to see you again next year!

Guys, Tenshiyama absolutely rocks!
It is a really convenient place to stay at, and it can provide a peaceful and calm environment for poor overloaded tortured Boojie creatures
Transportation is good, and the fact that there are some convenience stores and a department store nearby, makes life much easier, especially if you attend 2-3 trainings a day and don't have much time to be spent on shopping.
Also, Shawn is a great host and advisor, willing to give you advice on anything you ask for (yes, almost anything )
If you're lucky enough you can even be part of a cool BBQ party
Anyway, I can absolutely recommend this apartment to individuals or groups as well! Next time I come I make sure I can stay here again!

The Tenshiyama guesthouse experience was certainly beyond my highest expectations. Shawn Gray was very helpful in making my first stay in Japan educational as well as enlightening. Shawn has created an atmosphere where one will find access too many of the wonders of the local area and a convenient location for travel to and from training locations. He has proven to be an excellent host, teacher, and good friend. I hope to make a return visit soon.
Thanks for all your help Shawn, “Namu Seiryu Daigongen!”

We were a group of five people staying at Tenshiyama for ten days over easter. We had a terrific time. Not only is the appartment really nice (the internet access was especially useful for me at the time), Shawn is also very forthcoming and helpful whenever he can. Thanks for helping to make a trip such a great experience!

What's not to like about it!
The apartment has everything you need for a very comfortable stay. Getting to/from training at Honbu and Ayase is easy AND affordable. For those planning day trips in and around the Tokyo area the apartment location is a definite plus.
Book early because the word is spreading. Tenshiyama Slums is the place to be!
Thanks Shawn!

I stayed in Shawnie's (he LOVES being called Shawnie) apartment recently. So, four of us stayed for two weeks, and speaking on behalf of myself, we all had a great time! Shawn(ie) is a very handy direction giver, question answerer and translator. He's not too good with the making up the beds thing though and I never found a chocolate left on my pillow! It's very easy to get to both Honbu and Ayase from the apartment, easy to find the supermarket if you're not into eating out, and generally easy to make yourself a home away from home. You ROCK Shawnie!!

Its kewl staying at Shawns, he is a great host.
The first time I stayed there I brought two fellow students and they had such a great experience. I feel that was greatly down to Shawn and his accomodation.
The second time was fun too, I'm sure I will attempt to stay there again many times. Hey Shawn, you could start a hotel chain if you keep this up!
