I had a great time training in Noda last September and really it was partly because I also had a great place to stay. A place where I could relax and rest between each session in the Dojo. It was calm, clean and perfect to meditate. Thanks.

For the previous 3yrs I had stayed in the Abiko apartment, this year it was the newer Noda apartment. I found it spacious, clean and homely. 10 minutes or so walk from the Hombu Dojo & Atago station.
Very enjoyable and thoroughly recommended, I'll be back in 2010.

The new Appartment in Noda is really cool. It's a beautiful appartment, a quiet place to relax in the evening, on walking distance from the Station and the Honbu. It has all the basics and more to guarantee you an easy and relax stay, including Shower, Kitchen, Internet acces, TV/DVD, Washing Machine, ...
Also Shawn is a real gentleman who really helps you out with any problems/questions during your stay.
I had a Great time staying there and would recommend it to everyone!

What can I say about the new apartment in Noda Shawn let us stay in. Soleado, what a name, is a great apartment. I have stayed in different types of apartments in Noda, by far this was the most luxurious! We stayed in august, not the coolest month, but the apartment had it al! Arco, wireless internet, bathroom, three rooms and a kitchen, tv/dvd (had no time to use it) etc. Very close to the Hombu where you nowadays can train almost three times every day.
Thanks for this place and letting us stay Shawn! We had an exelent time!

The NEW place in Noda...
The group of guys (4 in all) were extremely pleased with the new place Shawn has to offer in Noda. I must say we had no idea what we were in for as we were the first group of guys to stay. Also, being in Soke's home town it was important to be on our BEST behaviour. Though we travel from afar, we are all ambassadors of the Bujinkan.
For us, one of the most important decisions we need to make when we visited Japan was "how far is it from Hombu??" The good news is that it is only a 10 minute walk to Hombu dojo / Ayase train station.
The apartment is also about a 4 minute walk to a local pharmacy that has all sorts of food and drinks, as well as a friendly butcher shop across the street from the pharmacy. You are also only about a 5-10 minute walk from two reasonably priced family restaurants, one of which I believe to be open 24 hours.
The best feature of the apartment is the place itself. It is very private, set quite a few metres away from the street and beside a bamboo grove. There are two very comfortable hardwood floor rooms, one with a bunk bed and the other with futons. The kitchen, bathroom and shower room were immaculately renovated before our stay and Shawn made sure we always had enough materials (bags, cleaners, stove, etc) to ensure a comfortable stay. There's an entertainment unit with ample DVDs of training to watch and I believe Shawn has also installed Internet connexion.
The canadians from Ottawa recommend this place to anyone wanting to train and stay close to Hombu.

We've stayed at Tenshiyama many times, fits up to six in relative comfort. Good for those looking to leave behind the hustle/bustle of downtown Tokyo.
Great multi-level department store nearby with an excellent grocery supermarket on the main floor.
Laundry, cash machine, dining bars, train station, shopping - all within a few minutes' walk.
Happy Anniversary, Shawn, you hoser!

It's been a great time :)
You'll definatly see me back there, if you let me that is ;), but for now I need to save up some more money, and pay the bills from my last visit to Japan ;)
PEACE!

I stayed there for a month and a half in the summer of 2006. The place is in a good location, it's cheap, the apartment has everything you need plus we get to meet really nice and interesting people. I stayed with Jeff who signed the guestbook for a while, then with Patrick who also wrote down a comment. Great people really!! Plus Shawn is always there to help, give info and advice on Japan. He really cares about our comfort and satisfaction. Thanks a lot Shawn, I'm always recommending you to my friends in Canada!!!

This praise is way too late!
I along with two training buddies stayed at Shawn's almost a year ago for two weeks, around Daikomyosai.
We had an immensely great time! The apartment is comfy, the location is good, shops are nearby. Shawn is also a great guy! We especially enjoyed the late night meal at Warui Warui(?)-restaurant at Kashiwa :) .
Thank you Shawn and hope to see you again next year!
Mikko
